Drama Coursework Development and evaluation of Disasters Essay Example For Students

Drama Coursework Development and evaluation of Disasters Essay Just got aboard the titanic and room is well nice!! Unpacked all my clothes and im gonna go to the bar in a bit to meet some lads. The place is amazing and cant wait for the trip. Met a lovely lad, my age, lovely looking, meeting in at the bar tonight.  Must go; send you another letter soon.  Dear Aunty Nora and Uncle Bob  I have just put all my stuff down and I am laying on my new bed for the trip. The ship is amazing! I cant believe how big it is. I am going to have a look around it in a while, after I have unpacked. You will love it here. I am going to go up soon to find out when I am starting work and were it will be, I hope I am in 1st class, it is so posh and wonderful. I am so glad I managed to get this job; it is new lease of work for me! I am sure I will enjoy my trip and I hope you enjoy your holiday, I will see you when I return. Dear Family,  I have just arrived on the titanic and it is wonderful, apart from the minor paint work, but I like my room and the eating area is marvellous and very clean. I am unpacking my clothes at the moment, and will join the others for tea in a while. The ship is very alike to the one we went on last year with the family. Hope you are all having a very nice time in London. See you when I get back. These are three postcards to show how they first reacted to the Titanic when they first arrived here. The upper classes didnt appreciate it as much as the lower class passengers did and they mentioned that the boat was very alike to the one they had been on before the titanic. The second postcard shows you how grateful the crew were to get these jobs as it was a total new life for them working with all the posh people and learning new things.  A text message from passenger on plane before colliding with first tower I love you so much, I always will. Promise me that you will help the kids as they grow up; I wish I was with you to help you but unfortunately I will be gone. You will meet with me again but not until you have lived life to the full. Just remember that I love you so much and no one could love you the way I do right now. Tell the children I love them, but couldnt be with them, but will looking down at them with the angels. Love you all so much! Xxxx If I were to direct the two scenes of when the plane was controlled to when the plane had been hijacked, I would use contrast to show the audience the differences. When the plane was in control I would show that everything was ok using facial and body expressions. The air hostesses would be catering for the passengers and giving passengers drinks etc, and movement would be very slow. The stewardesses would also be using a very slow and deep tone of voice to show normality as this would be there normal routine on a flight. When the terrorist attack starts I would show fast movements and the body and facial expressions would show the audience shock and distress. I would also show the movement as the characters would be very shocked and would move around a lot to show this. The climax would be very fast during this part so you would show this y using different facial and body expressions. .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 , .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .postImageUrl , .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 , .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90:hover , .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90:visited , .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90:active { border:0!important; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90:active , .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90 .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ubffbeb5bbe9ba1813ac8e7b9e017ed90:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: How would you direct Act 3 Scene 5 from William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet"? EssayWe used many texts and explored them to get a feel of what it was like for those trapped inside the building. We studied a text called Fallen. For this text we explored the ways we could show the different levels of the twin towers slowly falling to the floor. We used a still image of the two buildings standing and then another still image to show the twin towers deteriorating in mid air and then we showed the ruins on the ground in masses. This gave great affect to the audience because it showed how the twin towers fell but using shapes with our bodies. We then studied another text to focus on the different characters and what they went through on this day. We used role play to create the different atmospheres. This showed the audience that although mostly business people were involved it also involved such people as shop keepers (below the twin towers), home owners, passer by but most of all, policemen and firemen. The text explored the different situations and explored the way they (the others around the twin towers at the time) and how they reacted at the time when this happened. We used freeze frame, use of space and slow motion to give the audience the right impression of what happened, how those who werent involved helped those who mostly needed it at this time. We would also create an impression by using lighting techniques, levels and the different settings. The piece of text was called Fallen and to symbolise this we would have to think and explore the way that people fell from the different levels of the towers. First we would have to think that most people would see this as death so they would put themselves in the death position, crossed arms on chest. We would also think of those scared, covering their eyes. Those who were badly injured already, trying to find any way out, diving out of the building head first. Through looking at this made us think how else they would jump. It would be at all different situations and we would show facial and body expressions in still images showing these movements and thoughts while falling. Disasters Evaluation In creating work based on the theme Disasters I feel that we were very successful and outstanding with our approach. We used several different drama techniques and developed these to portray the different disasters. During our workshops we mostly used still images to create the right picture of who was more important and what the characters personality, mannerisms and posture. The still images also enabled us to show the audience the different pictures that were created during the disaster and the variation of class. We also used role-play, so that we could look from diverse perspectives and different views.

The singer of love Review Essay Example

The singer of love Review Paper Essay on The singer of love Book prochina What can I say? Fedor Dvinyatin was right by one Saturday morning it for review in the Bookshelf, thanks to him, not knowing what kind of book, but succumbing to enticing descriptions of style and content, I could hardly find it in the store, taking the last instance. And I do not regret, because not bought a book and a painting. What is this book? About art, about power, about love, about the poet Ovid, and as a whole. Either. What is nice, the product is not the biography, that is devoid of tediousness and meticulous scientific and historical work. The author initiates us in the delicious details of everyday life in Rome the end of the reign of Augustus, it lifts the veil on some political intrigue and conclusions in the light of Ovid-man. This is not a faceless impeccable poet from an encyclopedic reference book or anthology of antiquity, and a man of flesh and blood, with all its shortcomings, weaknesses, which is driven by the desire to earn the forgiveness and mercy of the emperor and famous. Learn How To Paraphrase Properly With The Best Online Guide

Learn How To Paraphrase Properly With The Best Online Guide Learning to Paraphrase: A Step-By-Step Guide Paraphrasing is often not taken seriously both by students and teachers, while students think it is the easiest task ever, and teachers, in turn, assume that every student knows well how to do it. There is a good reason for the professors to think so. In our daily speech, each of us paraphrases several times a day, for example, various morning or talk show conversations or phrases, friends, parents, blogs, etc. We all live and communicate. Every day we render something said earlier by one person to another person or party, and we don’t do that word for word. So, paraphrasing is a natural way for all humans to convey information. Thus, if we do it so often, it’s possible to assume everyone knows well how to do it well. However, it’s crucial for students to know how to do it in order to avoid plagiarism. Besides, mastering this skill will allow you citing someone’s ideas without a need of a word for word quotation. When you are able to paraphrase pro perly, you have a chance to make your writing diverse and show how you mastered the material. What Is Paraphrasing? Paraphrasing means to keep the meaning of the original text without copying its exact wording. Massachusetts Institute of Technology defines paraphrasing as taking the words of another source and using your own vocabulary to restate them. A paraphrase is actually swapping the keywords not to parrot the author and render his main idea at the same time. Yes, it may sound really simple, however, there are so many students having troubles with it. The problem is that when paraphrasing, they misinterpret the main idea of the original text. Linguistic scholars define full paraphrase and quasi-paraphrase. According to Bhagat Hovoy, it can cause very subtle but still very essential meaning, implication, and point of view differences. Bhagat Hovoy define paraphrasing as phrases or sentences rendering almost the same meaning through using different words. The Difference Between Paraphrasing and Plagiarism The main difference between paraphrasing and plagiarizing is very simple, correct paraphrasing usually has a source attached or cited. When citing someone else’s source you show that you do not try to produce someone’s work for your own. Ideas are really valuable in academia, so if you try to pass off someone’s idea as your own, it is perceived as stealing. And there is a good reason for that, while some academics spend much time on their studies to come up with those ideas, and stealing them is a serious offense. They might be just phrases or words for you, but those ideas are the result of someone’s hard work. When paraphrasing, you don’t only change the main words but also the sentence structure, and at the same time, you give some new life to the text. According to some experts, if a paraphrase has seven or more words from the original source and it is not acknowledged properly, it is considered to be plagiarism. It is necessary to save the meaning and intent of the original idea as much as possible, but the words and vocabulary, in general, have to be different. It is a sort of following a recipe and at the same time, substituting each ingredient by something else and getting the same dish at the end. And don’t forget to state the original author in the reference. The Difference Between Paraphrasing and Summarizing When summarizing, you can gather all the main ideas of another thinker or author in their core concepts. There is a very small difference between a summarized paragraph and a paraphrased one. A paraphrased paragraph, as a rule, is aimed to give the main idea of what it is referring to. A summarized paragraph is intended to show the main points and ideas of the initial source. Both of them must have citation and references to the original source. It is very possible to make a properly paraphrased summaries and even plagiarized summaries. A summary that is paraphrased properly should restate a written summary via new vocabulary and structure. It also requires correct in-text citation. A plagiarized summary will restate the same original summary’s ideas using many the same keywords. And it is not referred to the original author. How to Paraphrase It requires some skills and practice to paraphrase a point, argument, or idea of another person. The following tips will help you master this skill the soonest. The order of the words and sentence has to be adjusted. Before thinking of new words for your sentence, you should change the whole structure of the sentence. A new sentence should start at a different place than the original one. This way, you will have to make wording changes. For example: The meeting was rescheduled while the deputy had to go to the head office. – The deputy head to go to the head office, so the meeting was rescheduled. So, you just restructure your sentence and can start substituting the words to paraphrase your own sentence. Such restructuring impacts the tone, too, it brings freshness to the original idea. Sometimes paraphrasing allows making the ideas of an academic more understandable and readable, especially if you make the sentence structure easier. When restructuring, you are free to change the length of the sentence. You can make too long sentences shorter, and vice versa, combine few short sentences into a longer one. The writing manner of some academics requires the readers to read the sentence over again in order to understand it, so you can restructure it and make it easier and accessible to your reader. Substitute new words. This step is one of the most crucial to write a proper paraphrase. When using new vocabulary, you show your ability to understand everything that was said by the author and at the same time, choose the synonyms conveying the same meaning. Too complicated and esoteric words can be replaced with easier ones. And vice versa, too generic words can be replaced with those that express the main idea better. If you want to use some set phrases, you can still do it. If you want to refer later to the original turn of the author’s phrase, you can also keep it. If necessary, add the definition of terms. One of the best paraphrasing benefits is the opportunity to improve the original work. If the author didn’t provide any illumination, you can do it. Review the paraphrased sentence and check if you didn’t change the meaning drastically. It is crucial for paraphrasing. Sometimes, it is necessary to simplify the tone of the original expert to show your understanding of the material and ensure that you didn’t just alter the original meaning. Some synonyms may alter the original meaning of the text, so make sure to choose the proper ones. Paraphrase Example Original: â€Å"The world has a great writer in Erich Maria Remarque. He is a craftsman of unquestionably first rank, a man who can bend language to his will. Whether he writes of men or of inanimate nature, his touch is sensitive, firm, and sure.† (The New York Times, 2007). Paraphrased: Erich Maria Remarque is a great writer of the world. He is a first rank mater who is able to make the language obey his will. His touch is always sensitive, confident, and sure, no matter what he writes about. (The New York Times, 2007). How to Cite a Paraphrase MLA Format The MLA format requires to state the name of the author and the number of the page within parenthetical. For example: (Dickens, 25). However, if you mention the name of the author in the paraphrase, you have to use only the page number at the end. For example: According to Dickens, †¦(25). APA Format This format requires you to use the name of the author and the date within a parenthetical. For example: (Dickens, 1843). In case the author is cited within the paraphrase, just state the data at the end. For example: According to Dickens, †¦ (1843). Chicago Format This format requires you to use the footnotes for referring to a citation within the text. It’s necessary to state the full name of the author, the work title, the date of publishing, the year published, and the page numbers. For example: Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol, (London, 1843), 25. If you refer to the work for the second or more times, then use the abbreviation of the citation For example: Dickens, Christmas, 25. Paraphrasing Tools Fortunately, modern technologies develop fast and make students’ life even easier. Such tools help not only finds variants for their writing but also check it for various spelling and punctuation mistakes. You can also use various plagiarism checking programs to make sure your work is unique. Conclusion Anyone possesses the ability to paraphrase. It will be very helpful for you to master these skills to improve your writing abilities and make them more diverse. With the help of paraphrasing, you don’t seem to be dependent on the expertise research. The more you practice, the easier it will be for you to paraphrase.

Generator Protection Measures Thesis Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Generator Protection Measures - Thesis Example One of the primary function of a generator is to provide power to a given number of appliances. Generally, generators are used in almost all parts of the world others serving as standby generators in case of power outages. Generators therefore do not operate in an ideal condition but are subjected to failure and other problems. It is therefore necessary to wear protective clothing and take other necessary measures to curb such problems. This problem is also taken care of by the manufacturers by ensuring that they produce machines with high load factor to guarantee the safety of the civilians or the people who operates it in case of failure or during maintenance. Furthermore, after taking care of all the precautions that might occur faults associated with electrical or even mechanical persists. Most manufacturers globally have embraced the use of relays. Fundamentally, relays are electric devices which acts as circuit breakers in case of a problem. It is always standby and when a prob lem of overvoltage occurs it immediately disconnects the power line to the appliances or even disengages and shutdown the generator in order to ensure that machines or other devices do not get damage as a result of power disruption. Digisilent software is principally one of the most applicable software in generators. It is the most convenient software to use owing to its several advantages like general functioning incorporation, wide range of modelling in terms of distribution and transmission which produce the best analysis. In order to eradicate some outages in the generator, it is recommended to use Digisilent software to achieve maximum protection as far as electrical or mechanical faults are concerned. Thermal protection is one of the most fundamental aspect of safety that must be undertaken. It is carried out to reduce the impact of overheating.
